KRISHNANATH VENKATARAMAN
An entrepreneur with the right mindset
Krishnanath Venkataraman, the Chief Operating Officer of Caparizon Software Private Limited, has a life story full of hard work, challenges, and inspiration. He is the younger son of R. Venkataraman and Jaya Venkittamma. He is also part of the director board of Sama Group of Companies with his elder brother, Ramaswamy Venkataraman, who is the head of the group.
After completing his Mechanical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam, Krishnanath was selected through campus placement to join Vanenburg, a Dutch company in Hyderabad. He worked there as a Project Lead. Although he had a stable and promising job, Krishnanath always had the dream of building something of his own.
In 2008, he decided to leave his job at Vanenburg and joined ITFlux, a company started by Ramaprasad Panikath, who later became his business partner. At that time, it was not an easy decision. His mother was worried and didn’t fully support the idea at first. She often asked him why he left a good job, out of concern for his future. Later she got convinced as the other family members were in favour of Krishnan, that gave him the strength to move forward.
Krishnan played multiple roles in ITFlux. With his technical acumen, Krishnanath did corporate trainings for the leading companies like Wipro, TCS, Simbus, Eicher, Vodafone Essar, and Mannai, Qatar. He focused on Business Process Management (BPM) and tried to implement it in small, unstructured companies in Kerala. His aim was to help MSMEs and SMEs become more organized and efficient, making modern systems affordable and accessible for everyone.
Most ERP providers ask companies to adjust according to their software. But Caparizon is different—it adapts its software to fit the company’s existing systems and structure
There are many success stories associated with Caparizon Software, and two notable ones are Chipo Fresh Products and Nice Chemicals. Chipo Fresh Products implemented Caparizon’s ERP system in 2020 and are now in the sixth phase of its development. “Now, Biju from Chipo is actively suggesting new ideas to me,” adds Krishnanath. Another proud achievement is their work with Nice Chemicals, a manufacturing company. Their clients use Caparizon’s ERP software to place orders directly, which helps avoid communication gaps and improves overall efficiency.
Sama Travel Private Limited, which was started in 2016, is another great example. The travel firm relies on Caparizon’s customized software to manage its operations. “I think there is no other travel industry that uses this much advanced customization for users,” Krishnanath says with pride.
The company mainly operates through four departments: ERP, Business Process Management (BPM), Custom Application Development, and Quality Assurance. Caparizon’s client list includes renowned names such as Panasonic, Prevalent AI, and Pinnacle Consulting. The company provides services across these four major streams and has active operations in countries like the United States, Japan, India, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. Although Caparizon has grown steadily over the years, the journey has not always been smooth.
In 2019, Krishnanath faced one of the toughest moments in his career. Due to certain challenges, he had to let go of most of the company’s team members and continue with only five people. It was a painful decision, but necessary for survival. “We had to face so many things,” he recalls, “but those were lessons to learn and move forward.” He believes that the company is more than just a workplace, it is a lifeline for many families. “The first priority is the company because so many families rely on it,” he says. In every difficult time, Krishnanath believes that God has always been with them.
Krishnanath shares a simple philosophy that guides his life: “Where there is a will, there is a way!”and it deeply inspires him. Even though his work keeps him busy, he finds joy in the little moments. He loves watching movies, listening to music, and attending festivals with his family, traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Palakkad. Krishnanath who is an active learner also proved that age is just a number for learning. At the age of 45, in 2025 he completed his Masters in Technology (MTech) in Energy Management from Model Engineering College, Thrikkakkara.
Along with his wife, Lekshmi Subha M S, who is an excellent singer from a musical family and an Assistant Professor at Model Engineering College, he also enjoys organizing art-related events. Krishnanath is a family man. He and his wife are proud parents of twin children, Jayakrishnan & Jayaraman, who are now in the fourth standard. Despite his many responsibilities, he makes sure to spend quality time with his family and engage in creative and cultural activities.
To become a successful entrepreneur, one must start small, be ready to learn everything, and move step by step. “At first, we have to be entrepreneurs, take small steps and learn everything,”
Today, Caparizon Software is a growing company with a team of more than fifty people. Krishnanath and his team are now revisiting the idea of launching products, something they had to pause earlier due to certain issues. With more experience, a strong team, and a clear vision, they are hopeful that this time things will work out.
Krishnanath Venkataraman’s story is one of courage, learning, and persistence. From giving up a secure job to facing major business challenges and building a company that supports many lives, his journey is truly inspiring.
